Description: This course will help make your school/classroom a safer place for all students to learn. Explore the following areas: school-wide anti-bullying measures, problem solving dialogue, the role of the bystander, building staff-to-student connections, supporting and empowering the targets of bullies, and more. Discover new ways to reduce bullying, regardless of what level/subject you teach. |
Objectives: As a result of this participation in this course, students should:
- Gain knowledge of situations and factors that cause bullying
- Understand how discipline and interventions can help in a bullying situation
- Explore guidelines for a school discipline system
- Investigate the important role of the peer bystander
- Examine a bullying prevention system
- Design ways of decreasing bullying in their classroom/school
- Understand important issues involved in cyberbullying
- Understand the negative impact bullying has on students
