This course will help make your school/classroom a safer place for all students to learn. Explore the following areas: school-wide anti-bullying measures, problem solving dialogue, the role of the bystander, building staff-to-student connections, supporting and empowering the targets of bullies, and more. Discover new ways to reduce bullying, regardless of what level/subject you teach.
Objectives: 
As a result of this participation in this course, students should:
  1. Gain knowledge of situations and factors that cause bullying
  2. Understand how discipline and interventions can help in a bullying situation
  3. Explore guidelines for a school discipline system
  4. Investigate the important role of the peer bystander
  5. Examine a bullying prevention system
  6. Design ways of decreasing bullying in their classroom/school
  7. Understand important issues involved in cyberbullying
  8. Understand the negative impact bullying has on students
